The study of the physical sounds of human speech — how they are produced, transmitted, and perceived.
Phonology
The study of how sounds function and pattern within particular languages.
Syntax
The study of the rules and structures that govern how words combine to form sentences.
Language Acquisition
The study of how humans learn and develop language from infancy through adulthood.
Semantics/Pragmatics
The study of meaning in language — semantics focuses on word and sentence meaning, while pragmatics examines how context influences interpretation.
